There is another quotation, one from PNAC’s “Rebuilding America’s Defenses” (2000), that says everything we need to know about our political opponents:
… the process of transformation, even if it brings revolutionary change, is likely to be a long one, absent some catastrophic and catalyzing event — like a new Pearl Harbor.
In other words, to neocons, the very concept of Pearl Harbor is not that of an horrific event, but of a political opportunity. They should be ashamed of themselves, but of course they’re not.
I am grateful to our fathers for having won World War II for us. And I am especially grateful that GeeDubya Bush was not president in 1941… I believe the outcome would have been much worse if he had been.
