It sounds like the trip down to Baja to get the engine back into my nephew’s VW Bus. The guys working on it were musicians when they weren’t mechanics. The price of repair was several drum skins, and some new metric wrenches. I also threw in adjusting their satellite antenna. They lived in a collection of old delivery vans on blocks, which was substantial housing for Baja Sur.
If the weather had been clear, I would have been listening to the band at the bar across the bayou, but the high humidity dampens the sound.
Never fear, New Year’s is coming and the fireworks will be on sale. Don’t ask me what fireworks has to do with the New Year if you are not Asian, but it is another Southern “tradition” that didn’t exist when I lived down here as a child. It is amazing how many things have become “old and honored traditions” in a couple of decades.
You do have the Outback available, while I would have to drive a while to get away from people. Everyone should have a desert nearby, so they can get away from “civilization” and actually see the sky.
]]>The noisy Armenian neighbors got much noisier with some kids and their parents staying with them, and guy who owns the place decided they could all have fun welding, hammering, cutting steel to build a big caged trailer. It seems that building a trailer requires much loud swearing in mixed Armenian/English and lot’s of high-pitched laughter from small children. Not to mention Armenian music at ear shattering volume and singing that I’m certain classifies as noise pollution in any *civilized* country.
Next Christmas, a well hidden deserted cave is the plan! With my luck… I still wont get any peace & quiet!
Other than that… It was OK. LOL 😉
Hope you all managed some peace and happiness on your Christmas day. 😀
]]>I had to force a re-load to get the post up, even though I knew it was there from the comments in the sidebar. The ways of browsers are inscrutable – it updated the sidebar, but didn’t update the main column.

It helps to have a sense of humor, John, when you deal with weapons.
I don’t require “Merry”, Fallenmonk, just uneventful.
