I feel the same way when I see someone fishing in my bayou. I wouldn’t swim in that water, much less eat anything that came out of it.

Either they’re awfully hungry, or else they’re unaware of the water treatment plant nearby.

I assume automatically that anything around a river or bayou is going to be polluted.

There are too many coal-fired power plants for mercury not to the a problem, and any river running through an agricultural or suburban area is going to have pesticides and fertilizer in it.

I can see the difference in the water quality in the local bayou. When I grew up down here you could see the bottom of the bayou through the water in the center. Now you’re lucky if you can see the bottom within three feet of shore.
