As for the Civic, the car is fine, but the local dealership is worthless.

If you have the resources, the deals are out there. I looked at the Honda Fit and Toyota Yaris, as well as some of the Korean offerings, but we ended up with a Civic because it was too difficult to get a Fit after my Mother decided that she wanted the Honda.

not to wish ill on any fellow crazy cat ~~lady~~ person, but the mental images did sustain me through the countless hours spent in airport security theater lines on my last cross-country trip. since then, we’ve all vowed to never again fly if we can possibly help it, which is the only reason my dad is looking to replace his present vehicle [it’s only 10 years old, hardly broken in yet] with a tiny one that gets terrific gas mileage.

You mean the real possibility of my Mother beating up people while I get tasered and arrested as a known associate chocolate pudding incident. I blame it on television - she has seen Quigley Down Under entirely too often. I shudder to think what would happen if she saw Day Of The Jackal.
