If life was without puns and sarcasm… we’d all be illegitimate Republicant’s. π
I good honest sense of humor is how you can tell the groups apart. Well, that and that we are sane and rational (excluding the faux-liberals of course) IMHO. π
]]>It annoys me when I see people whom I would normally consider intelligent humans (mostly so-called *Liberals*) trying to convince one or more of these *conservative* people that they are wrong. It’s impossible and epitomizes futility. How do you convince someone who innately and truly believes to their very core they are right that you are completely wrong? Logic cannot work, they simply refuse to believe your logic, no matter how much proof you have. They cannot see it, hear it, or understand it. One would have a much better chance of convincing a snake that it is in fact a bird.
The rightwingnuts love their labels. A label is there for the sole purpose of reducing some complexity to it’s simplest form so they can understand it. It takes intelligence, creativity and knowledge to understand complexity. This is why the rightwingnuts are so superficial. The surface of all things is seemingly very simple. π But go even a small fraction beneath the surface, and things begin to get very complex very quickly. All the howling and arguments of the right are always extremely superficial if you look closely. I learned long ago that if you understand the innate complexity of all things, you begin to understand the simplicity of it also. This is not a contradiction, though a rightwingnut would think so. π The base concept is simple enough. Everything in the Universe is a form of energy. Man cannot create energy. Man can only manipulate energy and create other forms of energy or matter. However, whatever matter is created, will eventually become energy again. Nothing made of matter will last, though it might exist for eons. Humans are created from energy, and after death will become energy again. Einstein I believe understood far more than he let on, and had a huge laugh at the Worlds expense. π I’ve read several of his books and papers and I can see the humor and irony in his writings and a very consistent feeling that he knew the joke. π I feel OK with that. I won’t last as I am for long, and there is not a thing I or anyone else can do about that. I’m not afraid of the *unknown* either (as the rightwingnuts definitely are). Maybe the energy that is I will become a tree, or even part a new World or simply merge with all the other energy for a time until the next *big bang*. *shrug* So long as I never become human again (unless a true miracle happens and humanity actually evolves into an intelligent, sane species), I’ll be very happy. π
]]>i can’t imagine a life without puns and sarcasm.
hipparchiaΒ΄s last blog post..How long does it take for a cat to forget a mildly traumatic kittenhood incident?
]]>Having a Filipina write a book that justifies anything bad that happens to Japanese is not exactly a surprise. Actually, having any non-Japanese Asian bad-mouth the Japanese should be expected. It will be a very long time before Japan is forgiven for World War II in Asia.
The religion is another example of how truly shallow most modern “conservatives” actually are. They don’t truly believe anything, which is why they can’t defend their positions. Buckley and Goodwater could defend their positions, but since then you have a lot of people who claim to be conservative, but can’t truly articulate what they are trying to conserve, other than the top tier of the wealthy who have bought their loyalty.
Consider that the ecology movement isn’t liberal, it is very conservative, like organic farming, and many other “crazy liberal movements”. The modern “conservatives” don’t understand what a true conservative is.
My great grandfather wouldn’t have agreed that the US won the war in the Philippines. He was there and was part of the China Relief mission during the Boxer Rebellion. He and his wife died after his return from the tuberculous he acquired there. Spain was easy to defeat, but not the Filipinos. The Moros are still kicking up a fuss.
The Right just hasn’t evolved with the rest of the world, and don’t realize that that is the real reason they can’t maintain a majority in this country. After a while people get tired of the lies and take action.
]]>Shiksa Malkin stars in Scarf Wars…
And this:
Michelle Malkin: The Radical Right’s Asian Pitbull
t would be easy to make cruel jokes about a Filipino American immigrants’ daughter who authors a book arguing that the internment of Japanese Americans was justified by national security. Not to mention a best-seller arguing for a much tighter immigration policy. And countless weekly columns sniping at affirmative action, environmentalists, sexy pop stars, scandalous journalists, Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, Gary Locke, John Kerry, Teresa Heinz Kerry, and just about anything and anyone that offends radical right wing sensibilities.
To do so would only be giving Malkin what she gives others. But most readers would find that kind of adolescent vitriole less interesting than a serious effort at understanding who Michelle Malkin is, how she became that way and what she really wants.
On the level of plain, undisputed facts, Michelle Maglalang was born to Filipino immigrants in Philadelphia on October 20, 1970. Her parents had arrived in the U.S. earlier that year. Her father was a doctor in training with a visa sponsored by an employer. Her mother was a schoolteacher. After Michelle’s father completed his training, the family moved to New Jersey. Michelle spent most of her childhood in the tiny town of Absecon in southern New Jersey. Like most Filipinos her family was Roman Catholic, an affiliation Michelle retains to this day. Her parents were Reagan republicans but βnot incredibly politically active,β Michelle told CSPAN’s Brian Lamb. βI just think that there’s always been an eighth sense of gratitude toward this country and trying to give back to it.β She edited the school paper at Holy Spirit High School but without evidencing a pronounced right-wing perspective.
So much for being a devout Roman Catholic. She personifies the penultimate hypocrite. She showed a very pronounced right-wing perspective after marrying Jesse Malkin. A curious coincidence no doubt. π
I believe many of her works of fantasy and fiction were at the very least influenced (and in some cases, obviously authored) by her husband Jesse. You can see the similarities to the drivel he wrote at College and University before they were married. π
I blame the USA for the mess in the Philippines anyway. ; ) The USA was responsible after taking the Philippines from Spain when they won the Spanish-American War in 1898 (Was that the last War the USA actually won BTW? Must be close!) LOL It’s amusing really… The USA brought education and democracy (and the concept of equal rights) to Philippine women long before they did the same in their own country. π It tipped the balance in the Philippines. They had a good system of equality that worked well for them with matriarchs as common as patriarchs.
I think, in all seriousness, that a good sense of humor requires a strong sense of honesty, and an ability to see the humor in oneself. π Rightwingnuts generally enjoy that particular brand of jet-black humor involving anyone other than themselves being in great pain. The more pain, the greater their amusement. I don’t enjoy that humor, except at the expense of a rightwingnut. But I simply call that *Justice*. π
I’d be happy to embrace a global disaster if it meant wiping out all sub-humans like Malkin and her ilk. π Bring it on!! π
]]>It is also odd that people who thrive on hatred can’t deal with ridicule. I surmise that they lack a sense of humor, among other things. They really are pitiful creatures. They may not realize it but they really do lack the skills to survive in what is coming. They are dependent on modern conveniences for their existence, while normal people just get on with life. Watching the local wingnuts dealing with life after a hurricane is truly absurd. They really flip out because the local cable system is on utility poles and getting it back into operation is not a major concern for anyone. When the power company replaces a pole they don’t move the cable lines, they often cut them to get them out of the way.
What is coming should improve the species, but that is cold comfort.
]]>Well… luckily, I do like hiparchia’s & Steve’s *wit* (or witticism’s). π π And… what’s wrong with sarcasm? I’ve never understood people who don’t *get* sarcasm. It’s one of the main reasons I love this place! π I mean… What other socio-political type blog on these Internets understands Sir Pratchet? (I bet he had a fit of hysterics when he was nominated for Knighthood). He’s been taking the p*ss out of the very people bestowing the honor for decades! I’m certain he’d see and love the irony of it. π
I suppose I could go to Malkin’s blog & post a comment that I think she’s a dirty, ugly, slag with the morals of a cesspit who is secretly Cheney’s illegitimate demon spawn or something. Might get a few rabid Troll’s then. π LOL I’d have to be very careful and only use words with one or two syllables only, and with the *proper* misspellings. LOL No point insulting someone if they don’t know you have. π
]]>[Now you know why trolls don’t hang around here – puns and sarcasm are really hard to deal with when you are used to righteous indignation, and name calling,]
