Dot is officially known as “6” and Sox as “7” on their vet records, as I paid to have them fixed 8 months before I ended up taking them to my house because their original owner got into major financial trouble and had to give them up.

They respond the same way to either – not at all.

Well, except for the fake names I invented for them on my blog (they blog under pseudonyms too 🙂 ). It’s not as if they respond to their names anyhow, so why bother making their records confused over what is on the HS papers vs. what’s on the vet’s papers?

Actually, I think of Property as “Squeaky” because of her non-meow, and Excise as “Thump”, the sound of his less than graceful landings on my chest at night.

It has to be very cold before he will get on the bed, but he will rocket through the house if he sees me headed towards the chair.

You aren’t confused, I was involved with replacing my Mother’s AC and misidentified him, Hipparchia. He is the eldest, Income, and Property is the grrrl. Since they don’t actually respond to names, I don’t get a lot practice attaching labels to them. I’m claiming a senior moment.

oh yes. yes they’re a surprise when they land on you while you’re sleeping, but an even bigger surprise is when six of them who were sleeping on you [to stay warm in cold weather] suddenly wake up and take off into a catfit.

am i confused? i thought property was the grrrl.

I had a cat (gone now, sadly) who would attach himself to me each time I sat down, when I slept and sometimes even when I was standing in the kitchen. He’s been gone three years and I still miss him.

In time Mr Suave will be a bigger cat than either, as he is conforming to the Korat pattern of very slow growth to maturity. His mother wasn’t fully grown until three. He is already taller at the shoulder and longer than any of the others.

Fortunately for the furniture, they don’t often play tag as much as they once did.

Cat fits. Ah yes. That’s those things my two do from time to time while I’m trying to sleep, where it sounds like a herd of elephants thumping through my apartment, usually culminating in a couple of fur brains jumping off the top of the book-case onto the bed — i.e., 15+ pounds of fat cat landing on *ME*. Ooof!
