Jill, I think the US wants to stay out even more, because that place has more Islamic terrorists than any other country in the world.

The local fighter wing used to deploy there on a regular basis, and no one ever volunteered to go. They were thrilled when the mission shifted out of the kingdom.

My older brother was involved in the construction of the King Khalid Training Center in SA and viewed it as one of the largest unused military sites in the world. They built a huge facility, but didn’t bother to actually create an army to go with it, choosing instead to hire what they want done from other people.

If there is ever a serious threat to the kingdom they are SOL, because there enough enough Saudis who even want to pretend they are soldiers.
