Some of my favorite cats are tuxedos, Jill, including the huge blob currently sleeping wrapped around my foot.
They are not going to be trapped, OWL. No cat in their line has ever been trapped. It is one of the problems of a long term feral cat program. After a while all of the fertile females are from lines too intelligent to be trapped. Their mother won’t let them any where near a trap. A few will calm down at about 4 months and then I can catch them and take them for the operation, but until that happens, there is no chance. If I set a live trap, Tip will go in, set if off, eat the “bait”, and wait to be released. I’ve watched her do it, and she knows exactly what is going to happen in either of the two types of traps used. She purposely sets them off and them eats the bait.
]]>Hipparchia, some are just like that, as far as attitude goes, and you don’t get anything trying to change their nature.
]]>I would put kitty in a towel. Eventually she would be ok. I have tamed wild bunnies, too, that way. They figure out they like it when their ears are scratched…
