What was that?

[Editor: This is KT-2’s addition to the group, a little brown mackerel tabbie with white paws. Doesn’t seem as jumpy as most new kittens.]

That’s a sweet litle kitten. When you say not as jumpy do you mean she or he won’t dig the claws in before running a mile?

Yeah, seriously! Dat a coot widdle kitty kat! 😉 😀

Very sad about Tabitha! :'( 21 years is a very good run for a cat though! There must have been a lot of love and happiness in that home, I’m sure. That does, sadly, make it all the harder for those that loved them when they finally leave. Condolences and best wishes to Stella and Steve. I understand. I still miss cat’s I lost some time ago. they really do get under the skin (and sometimes only figuratively! But I wouldn’t have them any other way!) 🙂

Actually, Jams, the kitten is very calm, and may be on I can get fixed. [Hope springs enternal].

Kittens are all cute, it’s what they become as cats that’s important.

Yeah, I even remember the evil ones, Kryten, as the nostalgia clouds reality.

OT….be prepared to notice floods and mudslides (along with the locusts?) here in the land of Brushfire Food (formerly California)

Dr. Masters has the graphics on the possible effects of Typhoon Melor’s moisture laden air on the West Coast. It looks like the really heavy stuff will be in NoCal, and a lot in the mountains.

At least it will extinguish a number of fires.

Thanks, Bryan and all. We’re gradually recovering… Stella more slowly than I… but we still round the corners in the house expecting to see Tabitha in her usual places, and the ache of her absence returns. Samantha (new readers, FYI: our other cat) is very attentive and sweet to Stella and, surprisingly, to me as well. Thank Bast, Samantha is healthy and lively. Again, thanks to all who have sent their good wishes to us.

Oh, and what a sweet-looking kitten! I hope she can be… well, I hate the word “tamed,” but I hope she can be led to some degree of sociability with humans.

And CJ… we’re thinking of you; please stay safe.

I have high hopes, Steve, because her mom and aunt don’t freak out when I’m around. If a made to reach for either one they would evaporate, but other than that, they are OK with my presence. I took that from about 3 feet away and I am initiating some play with the kitten. I can hope.

People who don’t own pets miss the fact that each is an individual, and are missed as individuals. It really is a different bond with each one.

Very true Bryan… very true. The ones I really miss (even after years, but only in a kinda melancholy, or wistful, way now), I miss in different ways for different reasons. 🙂 But the memories are good and can make me smile even when I’m having a really bad day! So they were very much worth having even if only for a short time, and they live on inside of me and still make me feel good when I need it. 🙂 As with everything in this existence… we have to take the good with the bad, the sadness with the happiness. The best we can hope for, is to make sure the happy parts outweigh the sad! I truly believe that the animals we shared part of our lives with who loved us as we loved them, deserve that much at least. I know they feel the same when one of their human partners pass on. My Mother was well loved by her cat’s, and the male just stopped eating or doing anything after she passed on. Was very hard on me, I tried, but I just couldn’t fill that big hole. He was Mom’s cat, and that was it. I hope there is some existence after this one, and they are together and happy again. 🙂 It’s a nice thought if nothing else. 🙂

That’s a cute little kitten. Hopefully, with it not being so jumpy, it will end up being a friendly kitty. It sure is a little sweetie.

It’s a long step from being calm to be friendly, but we can hope.
