The only people who wear bow-ties [other than with formal wear] in the US these days are wingnut pundits on TV… who have a lot in common with the aforementioned groups.

I thought they wore bow-ties… no? Or am I thinking of the fuller brush and aluminum cladding salesmen? 😆

They are just incongruous, and around here generally worn by used car salesmen.

In the picture accompanying the article he was wearing a dark chalk-stripe suit, dark blue shirt, and a white and blue cubist tie. I was waiting for Peter Lorre to show up.
