Yes, Steve, they would consider prompt payment a virtue.
They were the first major Protestant church, and are based in Northern Europe, i.e. Germany and Scandinavia. Good, solid, hardworking people.
]]>Oh… well, if you say so! π
They donβt park on peopleβs lawns.
LOL Well… they sound considerate then! I must admit to not having had anything to do with Lutherans, at least, not as far as I know. π
Maybe I’ll have a look, just out of curiosity. π
See… this is what all the rightwing evangelical nutjobs there (and elsewhere) have done! As soon as I see anything with the word *evangelical* attached, I want to run far away screaming “Satan is coming!!” π
]]>Lutherans don’t tend to get carried away, even when they call themselves Evangelical. They are more concerned with getting their lives in order than messing with other people. They don’t park on people’s lawns.
I wrote a post titled, “No one expected the French Foreign Legion” that was a Monty Python riff, but did deal with a use of the Legion that wasn’t widely known. That was a few years ago.
]]>Might be better to spell it ‘Hopegnosis’ or ‘hope-gnosis’ maybe. π I think I saw a ‘toon somewhere that was captioned taht way… I’ll see if I can find it…
..Aha! Found it!! π
Well, it’s spelled ‘Hope-nosis’ there! Who am I to argue?! π
And… I found a blog called Hopegnosis, but it scared the *you-know-what* outa me just looking at the index!! :O It has blogs about “Evangelical Lutheran Chruch”, “Kant” and “Prosperity theology”!! π― I’m scared! (and, the misspelled ‘Chruch’ is the way it was spelled on the blog!! What does that say? π
Well, hopefully π the blog will keep him busy enough to minimize any trouble he might cause to sane people he’d meet if he had time to get out much! π
]]>It’s good news for you guys, as Rudd is certainly better than what we ended up with, and Howard wasn’t quite as bad as the Shrubbery.
[Speaking of the devils – my traffic feed shows a visitor from Fort George G. Meade, Maryland, home of NSA. They got here on a search for “The French Foreign Legion”.]
]]>Happy 2010 all! I hope that at least this year a better year for all! Drats! Now I sound like Obama! π *sigh* Hope-nosis indeed. Hope is a wonderful concept though, really! It can last forever, it costs nothing, it produces nothing, but it consumes time. People can spend an amazing amount of time and energy being hopeful! So, they can all be lazy and do nothing productive at all, and blame everyone else for their problems. π What a wonderful invention. π
Heh heh…
]]>Thank you, Jams. I would like to celebrate here on your time, as evening is much more civilized for such things. π
We are varying from tradition, Steve – instead of black-eyed peas and hog jowls, we are going with bean soup, the final resting place of all good ham bones.
If Kryten was first, you were the last to enter the new decade, unless someone on the Aleutians pipes up, Jim.
