I think it was all the rain, so we never had a good run up to a heat wave. It was certainly strange to switch to open windows and a fan during a Florida summer.

yeah, that was truly weird.

The ocean currents must be shifting, so it’s hard to know what’s going to happen.

I hate to think what the end of Jan/Feb will be like, they are traditionally our hottest period.

We forgot to water the worm farm one day last week… fried worms. Even though the farm is in the shade, the matting inside needs to be watered down twice a day when it get’s over 35C, once a day below that. We got some more worms and set up a simple mist water spray that will keep it wet and cool all day, and setup mist sprayers and shade cloth on our garden and fruit/veggie patch. At least, we would have had the mist sprayers, except the heat killed the pump on our big water tank. So, that’s waiting for repair now. *sigh*

They were predicting bitter cold for the midwest and mild and wet for the southeast this winter. Right now it’s 18F/-8C but it sure feels colder.

I remember all of that from the farm house in New York. When the wind blew away the snow around the bottom of the house the pipes got iffy. All you could do is drip some faucets and hope.

The heating tapes did help.

Of course, our pipes are wanting to freeze. Guess I gotta go buy some of those heat tapes…
