Thanks to the construction of Lowes, Sam’s Club, and WalMart, we now have an Hispanic population in the area. The contractor who put up those buildings imported them, and then left them behind.
They tend to stay invisible, but there are the beginnings of places with real Mexican food in the area.
]]>Given that Pensacola just celebrated the 450th anniversary of the first landing with a visit from the King of Spain, and Florida used to be a province ruled from Mexico, logically, objecting to Cinco de Mayo would be like objecting to Robert E. Lee. Isn’t it all about “heritage”? Objecting to Cinco de Mayo when you live along Cinco Bayou is rather silly.
