Hmm, I’m making some chicken noodle soup with a couple of leg quarters. I buy 10 pounds of them for under $6 and let a couple simmer all day before adding the broccoli and noodles to finish off. The meat from one quarter is left in the soup, and the other quarter plus all the skins and skimmed fat is used in cat food.

He still hasn’t figured out that sending him out to stand on beaches in the middle of hurricanes coming ashore is not an indication that his bosses like him.

That made me laugh! 😆 And I needed that today. (Though, I just finished preparing all the ingredients for a BIG pot of chicken/veg/barley soup!) Now I just have to wait a few hours for it to slowly cook… Smells good already! Will be a lot better tomorrow. 😀 Ya know… I commented to my housemate when we went shopping for the ingredients this morning that it’s a sure sign of how far things have changed in recent years when you have to pay $2 to get 4 chicken carcasses for soup. They used to threw them away and you could get them for nothing, and not so long ago either. Oh well… At least they still had some meat on the carcass and hadn’t steamed it all off as some places do! Gotta be thankful for very small mercies these days. 😐
