Comments on: What A Piece Of Work https://whynow.dumka.us/2010/11/21/what-a-piece-of-work-2/ On-line Opinion Magazine...OK, it's a blog Wed, 24 Nov 2010 03:46:02 +0000 hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=6.4.3 By: Bryan https://whynow.dumka.us/2010/11/21/what-a-piece-of-work-2/comment-page-1/#comment-54247 Wed, 24 Nov 2010 03:46:02 +0000 http://whynow.dumka.us/?p=17934#comment-54247 Jams, I can think of a couple of supposedly “non-combat” missions that are flown that would have Fischer filling his knickers. As I mentioned at your place, VCs and CMHs are normally awarded posthumously. The general rule is doing something that is almost guaranteed to get you killed. Living through it is the rare exception.

The entire world was ready to cooperate with the US after 9/11 and the Shrubbery went around alienating nearly everyone. We lost bin Laden and Afghanistan when he had mission critical people pulled out to prepare for his personal war with Iraq, and everyone knows it.

Yeah, Kryten, they really are that stupid in the “new and improved” CIA.

He looooves to try to rewrite history! His latest attempt is to blame NATO for the Afghanistan debacle, after telling NATO to piss off when NATO Command asked what they could do to help! What a total dipshit! At least Mullen (whom Bushmoron appointed) essentially said Bushmoron was full of it!

Mullen Rejects Bush’s Claim That NATO To Blame For Afghanistan Decline: ‘We Were Heavily Focused On Iraq’

Mullen has also called for a vote on START during Lame Duck (which I thought was whenever congress was in session…) *shrug* About time the brass found some balls (even if they are only brass!) 😛

Admiral Mullen: New START Is ‘Absolutely Critical,’ Calls For A Vote In Lame Duck

Oh! And I had to seriously ROFL at this!

U.S. and Afghan officials say a man they believed to have been a senior Taliban commander who was involved in high-level peace talks for months was actually an imposter. The man was apparently impersonating Mullah Akhtar Muhammad Mansour, a major Taliban figure. “It’s not him,” said one Western diplomat. “And we gave him a lot of money.”

The morons don’t even know if the crooks shaking them down are the right crooks! LMAO I doubt even John le Carré could stop laughing long enough to write a novel about it! It’d be dead easy for him though… wouldn’t need much *fiction* at all! It’d almost write itself! 😆

A—-Mazing!! You can’t make this stuff up! 😈

Nobody here would have considered awarding the VC to a non combatant would cheapen our highest award in any way.

Perhaps the scumbag should be drafted to Helmand as a corpsman. Let’s see what he thinks of their bravery then.

As for killing Muslims? Given when the new Testament was written and the rise of Islam. perhaps John the Baptist should be hailed as a Nostradamus… What bloody planet is this Fischer on?

For all of its faults I feel glad that the UK doesn’t throw up many of these jerks.

I just can’t believe that anyone can accept this sort of gross distortion. The Bible is readily available in just about any language you want, and, all of the newer translations are easy to read. People have been twisting the meaning of the Bible almost since it was printed, but one of the basic reforms of the Reformation was to make it available.

I see a lot of people carrying them, but I have serious doubts that they have actually read them, or these people wouldn’t be able to rise to prominence.

The response of John the Baptist to the soldiers, when asked “what shall we do?”, was to not extort money and accuse people falsely but to instead be content with their pay (the rest of Luke 3:14). Mr. Fischer’s problem isn’t that he reads some sort of thinner, highly edited Bible upside-down and backwards; his problem is that he doesn’t appear to actually read any sort of Bible for actual content…

He is an eminently worthy recipient of the Chickenhawk award for his comments about the CMOH, but he seems too eminently Elmer Gantry-ish stupid and feckless to be any more of an opinion maker than Fred Phelps when it comes to just about any issue…

If body count were important, the guys flying drones from the trailers in Nevada wouldn’t have any room left on their uniforms.

The memorials for NSA intel people is on Ft. Meade, so you have to be cleared for the facility to visit, and the Special Ops memorials are on Hurlburt Field, with the same restrictions. Even then, not all of the people or missions are mentioned. They certainly don’t show up on the evening news.

I had a roommate who was awarded a Bronze Star for a hangover. OK, that isn’t quite all, there was an attack and he crawled 100 meters through an open field under heavy fire to get a five gallon water jug that he hauled back and shared with the wounded, but he flat said that he wouldn’t have done it if he hadn’t been so hungover and needed water so badly that he figured getting killed would have been an improvement. He always said it was for a hangover, and I can understand that.

The problem with medals is that the form requires information that probably shouldn’t be widely available, for example, I was in Southeast Asia, and that as definite as I will get about it. We probably really weren’t supposed to be where we were for a lot of reasons, and there were a number of governments that didn’t want people, their own and others, to know about it. We had grid coordinates and no one shot us when we landed, so I was happy. It was treated as a crew rest stop, not as a base, so there was no need for a lot of paperwork. If landings didn’t equal take-offs, no matter what was actually known, everyone was listed as MIA, Missing in Action. It is in the nature of the job.

Thanks, Bryan! *SIGH* 😉 (Not your fault, I know) 🙂

I never got a medal for doing my job. And my team took out a LOT of seriously *BAD* guys! I’d love to have a half chance at the cowards like Fisher. It’d be painful and slow. Most SF personnel don’t get medals. It’s rather difficult to go *above and beyond* ones duty when said duty includes doing the impossible and performing near miracles regularly. If we’d wanted medals, we wouldn’t have been in the SF in the first place. FYI… I did get two medals. I don’t talk about them or show them to anyone. They haven’t seen the light of day since I got back from my last tour. And they never will. One in particular I really would rather not have received! We also received a number of commendations and citations. But they are locked in a deep vault somewhere and will never be seen. I really don’t know why they bothered.

Fisher and his ilk are total assh*les. Nothing good comes out of them! 👿
