My problem is that I would have to come in as someone new to find out as it doesn’t verify my comments the way it checks everyone elses. It is a PITA for debugging problems with comments, and embarrassing when it decides to ban me for attempting some it considers “illegal”.

“Sets his own schedule” – those guys have never worked as a contractor to believe that. “Gets to work as many hours as humanly possible with no increase in compensation at the whim of the client” is closer to the truth.

Small correction: Managers feel compelled to make other people do things at the end of the year. As a contractor, I saw this happen over and over again; eventually, I learned not to schedule any vacation (unpaid, of course) between Christmas and New Years, and with some managers, for a week on either side of that. In the “awl bidness” at least, those year-end schedules are graven in a very dense stone; forget about asking to change them if you ever want to work for that company again. “Sets his own schedule,” the revenooers say, is one of the criteria for a contractor; “except at one time of year,” say I.
