You have turned on the air conditioning? It must be warmer over your way, because all I’ve done is open doors. OTOH, this house catches the breeze and has trees around it, so that makes a big difference.
The “Colonel” is always a back-up position, if the Japanese place across the street is too crowded, I always have a back-up when I’m burning something in my Mother’s kitchen, as her stove works differently than mine, and I don’t always remember to make the adjustments.
]]>Actually, I was able to produce a reasonable facsimile of gravy this time, although it was a bit short of fat [not restricted] which produces most of the flavor. You don’t realize the magic of salt in enhancing other flavors until you can’t use it.
]]>It isn’t the cow that’s the problem, I’m good at that, but gravy is expected and will be attempted. You wouldn’t think that fat, flour, and water would be a big problem, but my attempts range from “superb” to “what is that?”
Few people have ever lost a pan and spoon making gravy, but I have. Whatever I created really made all of those claims about “non-stick coating” an obvious lie.
Nonetheless, it is Mother’s Day and the fates must be tempted again, because everyone knows when your Mother says “you don’t have to”, you have to.
]]>Hope all your Mom’s had a great day. 🙂
For me (and many others) this is a day of remembrance. My Mother passed away several years ago, and she preferred Mothers Day to her Birthday. 🙂
I like that pic also, and my Mom would have too. One of her fave photo’s I took a long time ago, was of our little grey tabby kitten snuggled up with our 8yo female Sheltie (Shetland Sheepdog). They got on very well, and our Sheltie (an extremely intelligent dog) was very protective. 🙂
