I think the ECB would like one of their people in charge so they can continue to beat up on Southern Europe, which might not coincide with what Wall Street wants.

Whoever gets the post will be working for the banks.

Having a European Socialist in charge of the place isn’t good for business. Getting Strauss-Kahn out of there is the first step in the actual plan, which is to replace him with a Wall Street banker type who’ll be pliant and promulgate policies that benefit banksters, not people.
