Yes, Badtux, as soon as the student-teacher roles are established, the training proceeds apace. It is only humans who think they are the teachers that generate the negative reports.

So the question is what’s more annoying — TMF yowling and scratching at the door, or TMF interrupting your business to grab your hand demanding to be petted. My landlord’s paint says the scratching at the door is more annoying .

People say that cat training is difficult. I beg to differ. Cats train us cat staff with the greatest of ease ;).

Yep, I know about that one.

If TMF is in my lap and Mencken decides he wants a tummy rub, he simply jumps up on my lap and starts tearing into TMF. EEEP! Needless to say, I don’t allow cats in my lap unless I’m wearing heavy jeans!

TMF has gotten a bad habit where if I am, say, sitting on the crapper, and he wants me to pet him, he’ll come to where I’m doing my business and grab my hand with his paw (claws semi-extended) and guide it towards his head. *NOT* appreciated in that particular circumstance, heh.

You do realize that many cats would hold the “fight’ in your lap.

I think Tip is annoyed with me, Steve, because at the neighbor’s house she doesn’t have to do this much work, but she does have to tolerate a lot of touching.

Well, Jams, you can’t allow ‘staff’ to wander about without direction.

One hears jokes about some activity being just like herding cats, and I agree it’s an apt simile for managing certain kinds of projects. But there are most certainly cats that herd humans… walking in front of us, periodically stopping in a strategic spot and looking back to keep the overall walk directed firmly at the food bowl. Esther, being older, is better at it than Lily, and despite any residual maternal instincts, she clearly has no intention of teaching her kit the trick, because although they have separate bowls, they are heading for the same food service area.

I wish I could have a cat. 🙂 We have the two little dogs, and they are good company, usually. 😉 They’ve now decided that my bed (behind me when I’m at my desk) is the perfect place for a full on wrestling match! And They get annoyed if I don’t leave the door open so they can chase each other at full tilt through the house, leap on the bed, and start a loud (but harmless) fight, then take off again… etc! 😆 It was fun… at first! *sigh* 😉
