I have been watching the fires using the satellites, and the winds that were generated by Lee have been the prime factor.

In my youth I could actually, kinda-sorta, play the piano solo version of that piece. For sheer technique, there’s Artur Rubenstein, but the favored recording in our household in my young years was the much more subtle rendition of Jose Iturbi. It’s all good, as they say… as long as the actual fire stays far away from me.

The fires aren’t close to Our House… yet. I was relieved to read that the Texas Renaissance Festival, which was a significant place in my past whether I liked it or not, has so far been spared the fires near (in?) Magnolia. I can smell the smoke in Houston; it literally makes me slightly nauseous. About 1500 Texas homes have been consumed so far. I’ve never seen it like this in my life… this is scary. Bring on the tropical weather… please!
