I dropped my annual contributions to NPR quite some years ago, when it became undeniable that the acronym expands to “Nice Polite Republicans”. Given how much of the guvmint has already been appropriated by the political Right for its own purposes, they damned well aren’t getting any charity from me.

Frederick, I stopped donating and listening years ago when it became obvious that they were bending over backwards to appease the wingnuts. This is just another example of their spinelessness. I had some hope after they finally fired Juan Williams, but then they dumped the woman who did it. Worthless.

Rook, I thought I made that plain when I called her a ‘freelance announcer’. i.e. not a full-time employee. She did do analysis of operas, which, in the case of Mozart, were considered political when they were written, but the closest she came to the news, was reading the intro to a syndicated news program that some individual stations carry. She has a good voice for radio.

I still hold NPR responsible for again bending to the will of the wingnuts, even though she isn’t part of Occupy DC, but a separate anti-war movement.

Word is it was actually not NPR directly, but a contractor. However, it seems she was given her job back.
