They run around complaining about people saying ‘Happy Holidays’, instead of ‘Merry Christmas’, not understanding that if you are in business you don’t want to annoy anyone, and ‘Holidays’ covers the gamut of possibilities. Let’s face it, most ‘Christmas traditions’ have absolutely nothing to do with the central event of the celebration or Christianity – they were swiped from various ‘pagan’ rituals as was the timing of the event. It’s a Solstice celebration, and the sooner people accept it, the happier they will be.

Every year some gimlet eyed right winger wil get steam blowing from their ears over the PC Brigade replacing Xmas with Winterval.

It stems from Birmingham Council branding a series of winter events from Guy Fawkes Night through Diwali, through to New Year. Christmas was the centre piece of course. This was in the 90s and the myth still gets trotted out year after bloody year.

Heaven forfend that these maniacs could do something useful with their tume…
