You guys keep looking for something different, as witnessed by the Queensland election, but it isn’t available. Today’s politicians seem to be taking their positions from a book, rather than actually looking at the problems. There don’t seem to be any intelligent people running for office anymore. It’s like the television news – instead of journalists, like we used to have, there are only ‘news readers’ who are selected based on their appearance and voices, not on their work in the field. Someone unseen is writing what they say for the politicians and media reporters.

Legislatures and parliaments have become bad local theater groups filled with the people who didn’t get parts in their school plays, because they couldn’t even read their parts properly.

Hey Bryan… I am starting to loose count over how often I say “Amen to that!” m8! You can include Aus in that, though to me fair, we didn’t actually elect our moron-in-charge.

And agree with all the above, as you know. 🙂

The last incursion into Lebanon shows that the IDF has lost its edge, and is no longer guaranteed a victory. Given the current situation in Egypt, they should be keeping their heads down, because that border can no longer be safely ignored.

An attack on Iran will only delay a weapons program if it exists, and may be the impetus to start one if it doesn’t. In the mean time the world economy will be circling the drain due to the spike in the price of oil as the Persian Gulf supplies will be cut off – as Badtux notes – Iran’s real ‘nuclear option’.

If Israel thinks they won’t be a target of retaliation by the Iranians and their allies, they are delusional. The Iranians know who is pushing for the attack.

It is amazing how many countries are ruled by delusional morons, especially the number of morons who have been elected by their voters.

But of course the Iranians *do* have the atom bomb, albeit one that’s made of oil rather than made of uranium, as I already mentioned. I don’t know why Israel thinks they’d be immune to the fallout of *that* one…

Why does America give and sell all those weapons to Israel, if not so they can fight their own battles?

We’ve already had one non-defensive, pre-emptive, invasive war recently, one for which we sent our UN representative to lie to the Security Council to “justify” it. We can all see how well that worked out. There was at least arguably an American grievance against Iraq; there’s not even one of those that we’ve been told of against Iran. Of course they might have a secret nuclear weapons program; are we going to bomb every nation that might have such a program back into the Stone Age? That’s going to leave an awful lot of places in the Stone Age, eventually probably including America.

For most of my youth and all of my adult life, America has felt an irresistible temptation to involve itself in dirty little wars that contributed little or nothing to its own security. Couldn’t we take a break for a decade or two? Or must we have at least one war per presidential election?
