As an organization they are looking for obedience, not morality or virtue, Jams. The Pope has flatly said that a smaller more obedient Church is better than a larger Church with differences of opinion. The leadership has become ‘corporate’.

Steve, the actions your former girl friend talked about are exactly the type of thing that the nuns are being ‘accused’ of doing – helping the unfortunate. Liberation theology has been declared a heresy by the Vatican. The tin-pot political leaders couldn’t kill it with death squads, but the Vatican has wiped it out with memoranda.

In the end “Mrs. Cake” will have the last word, You can’t have a sustainable church of any kind without the willing participation of women, and the mental defectives who take over ‘religious organizations and decry the oppression of the “Monstrous Regiment” will suffer the fate of John Knox – be buried under a car park.

If you haven't already read Mark Twain's The Innocents Abroad, read about his tour of Italy, in particular, of Rome and the Vatican. Twain is most uncomplimentary. More than a hundred years later, it seems that little has changed. Ordinary American secular law should apply unmodified to officials of the Catholic Church. Violators should go to jail. And the Church, active as it is in American politics, should have its @#$%^& tax exemption yanked. A Catholic girlfriend a couple of decades ago argued with me that the Church (bodily) saved a lot of people in South and Central America. And I admit that a lot of individual Catholics are active in antiwar work. Perhaps there are some virtues, but I can act based only on what I see around me today... and what I see isn't pretty.

Dolan, like so many in the Catholic hierarchy, comes across as a man deserving nothing but our utter contempt. It’s all about power and screw most priests and worshippers.
