There is controversy over whether her strategy has really helped the homeless, but you have to admire her gumption. If you haven’t read The Myth of the Welfare Queen, which is largely about Honkala and the Kensington Welfare Rights Union in Kensington, Philadelphia, PA, it’s worth your time to read. If I were voting third-party this year, I’d vote Stein/Honkala.

Regrettably, I live in Texas. It doesn’t make a damned bit of difference whom I vote for.
