Those seem like very worthwhile projects, and I may give the Lantern a try, or possibly the device that uses the Raspberry Pi.
It is a shame that we need to make such an effort not to be tracked by the governments we pay for. Dealing with hackers, crackers, scam artists, and script kiddies is enough of a PITA without having your own government using the same techniques.
]]>OT: Speaking of Philae (which, all things considered, was an awesome achievement which I doubt could be achieved today)… I’ve also been getting involved an a few ‘Crowd-funding’ projects via IndieGogo. Two in particular:
CyberGhost VPN NoSpyProxy where they aimed to raise US$70,000 to partially fund the project, but raised over US$156,000. I took out a 7 year subscription deal, which as well as being a cheap way to get a premium VPN product for 7 years, I get priority use of the Premium & NoSpyProxy servers. The performance I had prior wasn’t too bad, now it’s significantly better. 🙂 Also, CG have opened a Datacenter here in Vic which helps a lot. 🙂
The other is a fascinating project! It’s the smallest satellite Outernet receiver, data storage, & WiFi hotspot ever seen. What I would have given to have one of these in my Intel day’s! 😉 😀 Anyway, I decided to help fund it and pre-ordered a device. 🙂
Lantern: One Device, Free Data From Space Forever
Initially, it will grab 2 MB/day from Outernet, but depending on funding, the plan is to increase that to 100 MB/day which will be significant. 🙂
So, that with my helping with petitions and donations I deem to be morally worthwhile, I’m also offering advice on dealing with various gov & biz assholes, since I have decades of experience. You could say I’m planning to be an excruciating “pain in the ass” to said assholes whenever and wherever I can! LMAO
And damn… It does feel good m8! 😀
