These people are targeting their jobs after the military, not their careers in the military. This crap started with McNamara who decided officers should be managers, not leaders. This led to political officers rather than combat officers. This leads to clowns like Petraeus who can say what the politicians want to hear, but aren’t smart enough to keep their pants zipped.

We’re living in Griftopia. It’s all about the grift. If you can’t be one of the 1%, grift off the rest of the people by doing something that’s going to make you a martyr and get you sympathy and money from people who ought to know better. It’s all about how many people you can fool into sending you money nowadays. Honor? Duty? Country? Pfaw. Nobody cares.

“Duty, Honor, Country” is apparently too hard for people to understand. The people under 40 learned not to believe in the concepts by the 1% who control this country. People who do their duty, have honor, and love their country get screwed over, so there is no benefit beyond personal satisfaction.

Honor is for suckers, seems to be the current mood amongst people under age 40. Kind of like that county clerk who has a religious objection to doing the duty she swore an oath to do. The only honorable thing to do would be to resign, but no, she wants that cushy job but without having to do all the work it involves. SIGH.

A pillow fight is juvenile, even by military and college standards. West Point is supposed to be about “Honor” and cheating was once an instant transfer to basic training for enlisted personnel to fulfill the military obligation that is part of going to military academies.

West Point has lacrosse, hockey, and football if cadets want to beat someone up.
