There is a portion of this country that is convinced that Mao Tse-tung was right, that all power comes from the barrel of a gun, not that they would admit that they are following the views of a Communist dictator, any more than admit they advocate the policies of fascist dictators. Hell, there are a lot of Americans who believe the that the principles expressed in the Bill of Rights are from the Communist Manifesto.

What really bothers me is when leaders of other nations fall in line behind flawed US policies and/or actions. They really should contain the ‘disease’ to stop it from infecting others.

The reality is that it is easier to buy a gun than Sudafed. We could start not buy passing new laws, but by removing all of the impediments to the enforcement of current laws. Current laws don't work, because it is too difficult to use them. Congress specifically prevents any Federal funds being used for studies on gun violence. The Brandenburg test lets the people behind the video off the hook. Because the clinic in Colorado wasn't specifically mentioned in the video, they can't be charged.

The fix has been in on guns for a long time, Bryan. Tiime to apply that fix. JJ’s kind of suggested it somewhat snarkily yesterday. Time for the disabled, both physical and mental, to be armed. Congress should mandate it with a tax credit for the purchase of a gun

Yes, that is nuts but make GOP SAY IT!

And about the Planned Parenthood shooting: Why aren’t the makers of that hacked video being held accountable for aiding and abeting the shooter? Isn’t what they did equivalant to yelling FIRE in a crowded theater?

It literally makes me sick to my stomach that this Onion article could apply to literally every day of this year with just minor edits to the geographic location, number of dead, and shooters' identity. Even chocolate therapy and kitty therapy doesn't ease that feeling of dread in my stomach, dread that this country is spinning to pieces to the point where crazed gunmen snapping all over the place will make Somalia look like paradise. At least in Somalia, gunmen aren't crazed -- they're just venal. I'm just hoping that the country holds together long enough for me to live out the remaining 20 years of my life (assuming my life expectancy is similar to that of my other male relatives)... I'm not really mentally set up to live in some dystopian Mad Max future, no matter how well equipped my Jeep is for dealing with the realities of no roads and / or blocked roads. Gotta go, more kitty therapy needed. :(.
