Two days of crouching to work on plumbing and I need help from a cane and my TENS device. The final 200 meters into Cherbourg is a 14% grade at the end of a 200+ km ride.

You have to admire a guy with the muscles to do that final 3km climb, or if you don’t admire him, at least be polite to him.

Once, and once only, I tried out… completely unprepared… for the annual bike race at Rice. I beat the friend who insisted I do so (for the glory of our residential college, etc.), but only because back then I was cycling about 10 miles a day for transportation. Ah, those were the days, when I still had a lower right leg and foot… 😈 I don’t find very many things fun,, but I admit I always found cycling fun, and I still miss it.
