Your winters will keep getting warmer as Australia is moving North 7 cm every year. That’s the sort of thing that is going to screw up self-driving cars and drone deliveries – GPS is constant but the land surfaces are moving.

That’s my old stomping ground – the Monterey Peninsula. The Defense Language Institute is on the Presidio of Monterey. Lots of beautiful old trees and coastal views. Carmel is in trouble as they don’t let people remove trees that are encroaching on structures in the village.

Here the weather is clear and hot with a chance of smoke and ashes. Uhm, no joke on that last, I went to Santa Cruz yesterday to get some sunshine and beach time, and all I got was smoke and ashes from fires down near Carmel.

Too damned cold and WET here! We had one sunny day in 2 weeks, yesterday. Been raining non-stop since about midnight, a heavy rain. Makes it hard to do laundry! LOL

My friend in Cairo has been telling me how bad it’s been there.

We had a cloudy morning and the heat index dropped to 87. The weedwhackers, leafblowers, and lawn mowers have been going full blast. I’m going to need a wet bandana over my face to make it to and from the car, but the grocery store is a definite possibility.

The cats go out to the back room, which is hardly affected by the AC, flop on their sides and look at each other as if to say – Whose idea was this? I turned on the ceiling fan and put down water dishes out there, but there will be a blizzard of cat hair when they come inside.
