It’s the fans that make the race, just like the Tour de France. On the Iditirod he would have gotten sued for taking a video, which is why I like the Quest.

Kotzebue is north of Nome on the coast. John is a pilot, and I think that Katherine is his handler. She may have been warming the puppies for the I’rod. The triathlon is good training for distant races. You have to swing hay bales and 50# bags of kibble to participate.

Katherine Keith had not really been on my radar, and I didn’t know she was running John Baker’s dogs. I just looked her up, and yikes she’s a Strongman Triathlete on top of running her dogs. Don’t mess with Katherine, for sure!

Always enjoy seeing the women have a good showing. This is an awfully tough race with all those mountains.

Yeah, I thought it was a fun video. The guy may have had a GoPro on his forehead or something, but whatever I enjoyed the behind the scenes stuff.

That was a great video. The first part was from the start which is why they had a second sled on the back for the ‘parade’. Hugh’s puppies wanted to run, so the best move is when they tied the team to the fallen tree taking the place of the sled. There is a central rope and the dogs are attached to it with a line that goes to their harness for pulling and a second line that attaches to their collar that is used like a leash.

It looks like they sorted themselves out. Four women in the top 10. I like the look of Katherine Keith. Those are John Baker’s dogs and she got a good run out of them.

Looks like everyone is coming in safely so far. Still have a few on the first mountain to go. Came up on a video (not professional, just a bystander) showing Hugh's dogs when they got loose. How in the world he managed to separate this bunch of hyperactive dogs, cables, hooks and other assorted attachments, I cannot figure out. If you have some free time, take a look at this video at about 6:25 Hugh's dogs. All the people helping seem to be really nice people, but they keep saying "It's alright" to the dogs, and the dogs aren't even listening. They are in running mode and don't want to hear it. LOL.
