You don’t get to lie down, you fall asleep standing on the runners. If there is a good trail the puppies will follow it, but if the snow is light they will go wherever they want. There are no rides, that would be outside assistance, and his team didn’t officially arrive until he got there.

Martin runs on his own schedule, and will be blowing by Mitch, but Dallas has completed his 24, so the race really is on.

Aliy had to take her 24 early because her puppies have a bug. She’s hoping the stop will given them time to recover.

I actually am surprised this doesn’t happen more often. The dogs fairly well know where the trail is located if it isn’t blizzard conditions, well…most likely. Do you know if he had to walk all the way in or is it allowed for the musher to hitch a ride?

Guess we won’t really have a good idea of how the field is doing until everyone gets their 24 hour rest. Martin Buser seems to be the only one that has had both the 8 and 24 hour layover. That seems a little early in the event to me. I’ll bet he’s going to need some rest further down the road. I see sleeping on the sled coming up again. Ha! It just seems to me that it could be hard on the dogs to have to keep pushing while you get to sleep.
