They were talking about a large number of dogs, so it must have been a cargo aircraft and not a typical 6-passenger or smaller bush plane. They use waste engine heat, like your car, so it was probably comfortable for people, but too hot for sled dogs. People can take off coats, but the dogs don’t have that option.
