My family south of Lake Ontario will be shoveling for a while, or watching others shovel in my brother’s case.
They would have dropped her because she is so far back. The Quest will let you continue, but not the Iditarod. As long as her puppies are happy Zoya will let them run. She is really careful about care because they are ‘special needs’ dogs.
I have been loading a new version of the WordPress software and Windows 10 interrupted when the process was almost done. I have been able to do anything for over an hour, so I missed Ellen’s scratch.
]]>Yassss, that’s what it looks like. Lol. Hugh is sleeping sitting up which is something that I’ve never figured out how to do. Then again, I’ve never tried a 1000 mile race through Alaska either.
Just looked out the window as I’m typing and it’s (notice that I managed the correct version this time) spitting snow again. The same window is showing a direct view of two wild cherry trees in full bloom…sigh. What a world.
Just checked the stats and Ellen did scratch which is probably the best decision for her. I have to admire her determination each year though, and I’d be more than proud to have a Red Lantern at all.
So hope that Zoya can finish this year. I would like to see the “rejects” being competitive.
]]>No mention of why and I just hit my limit at Alaska Dispatch. I’ll have to turn on my XP box to look for more.
Both versions of the links work for me, and the pups look totally tuckered out. The scene is normally associated with after Thanksgiving dinner when the L-tryptophan kicks in. I think he’s running a puppy team and doesn’t want to push them.
This is Jessie’s first Quest/Iditarod double and she is really taking to it, but she will be ready for time off at the end.
Zoya and her crew of rescues, rejects & runts are still cruising, but Ellen Halverson is fading, I would like to see Ellen finished but I think she would rather scratch than get a third Red Lantern. Only about 750 people have finished an Iditarod, so even finishing last is an accomplishment.
]]>Bet the dogs appreciate the 25 lbs of salmon. That’s a lot of salmon under most circumstances, but I expect a team will go through that fairly quickly.
Nice to see Aliy and Jessie in the top 10 at this point, but I’m surprised to see Hugh Neff not up there. It’s not often that he’s out of the top 5 even. Caught a comical photo of Hugh and one of his dogs: Hugh & dogs Dog looks more like he passed out than fell asleep. The other dog is so dang tired, he doesn’t even care that there’s a dog laying on his head.
