My mailman still doesn’t know about all of his family because the only way in and out of his town is by helicopter – the landslides took out the bridge. It would have been torches and pitchforks if the recovery after Ivan had been this slow.

The water is more than warm enough in the Caribbean and that is where most late October and November storms originate. It won’t last long as a cold front that went through here today will start to interfere tomorrow or Monday. The season isn’t over until December.

Isn’t it almost November or am I in a strange time warp? I wonder if the water down there is still warm enough to whip up another big storm. It’s time for this season to go AWAY.

By the way, my friends in Puerto Rico were in a concrete house which I learned about three weeks later when they had a chance to make contact. All the noise made the children a little nervous, but everyone came out of it in one piece.
