I have an opinion, but I am reticent about expressing it because I don’t have all of the information on the situation. I have a base prejudice weighing heavily on the side of the rights of the First Peoples. How can you say you ‘discovered’ a country when there are thousands or millions of people living there? Maybe there are local conditions that would change my view, but I haven’t seen them in the Americas or anywhere else.

No Bryan, you have every damn right to an opinion, as we all do. That’s an argument the identitarians need to lose. However, it isn’t incumbent on us to broadcast our every opinion, or even to have one on every issue.

In reply to Kryten42. The only real celebrations of Columbus Day in the US are in the cities with large Italian -American populations. There has to be a real date that is the founding of the current nation, something similar to the US Fourth of July, rather than a colonial contact day.

Only people here happy about it were the RWNJ LNP lovers. In Melbourne, less than 10,000 celebrated the AD parade, whilst there were around 60,000 protesters! Good to see some sanity is finally prevailing. They want the name changed to “Invasion Day”, because that what it was. *shrug*
