Changes

David Bowie and/or Weird Al Yankovic are two people uniquely qualified to write the soundtrack for the Trump administration. SCRotUS had his lead Mueller attorney, John Dowd, resign and he then fired General McMaster to replace them with two Faux News pundit/contributors: Joseph E. diGenova as an attorney and John Bolton as a National Security Advisor.

You would need the resources of SETI to locate less qualified applicants for any position in government.

Paraphrasing Frank Herbert:

“Here lies a fallen Pol,
His fall was not a small one.
He built himself a pedestal,
A narrow and a tall one.”

These Trumpean choices are doing nothing to help republicans in the ’18 elections cycle. When Trump dispenses with Kelly He’ll be unleashed at just the right time to demonstrate how well republicans can Govern.

I don’t think he understands that he is supposed to help his party and not just do whatever he wants. There is still nothing indicating that Paul Ryan intends to run for reelection, and the midterms are looking really shaky.

If the midterms turn out bad, the Republicans left in Congress are going to have to make a choice about whether they want Trump, or a Republican party in the future. Right now they appear in shock about recent events. They got their tax giveaway to the rich that they wanted, but now the Trump administration is in free fall and may take the party down with it. Trump may end up getting impeached after all — and he *would* have to be impeached, this is not a case where a Barry Goldwater can tell him “Mr. President, you no longer have the votes to prevent impeachment” and he voluntarily resigns. Not that we have anybody with the stature of a Barry Goldwater in the Republican leadership right now, they’re all corrupt hacks, but you get the point.

Mueller may be trying to drag out his investigation to beyond the midterms before he indicts people inside Trumps inner circle. Because if the midterms are bad *and* Trump does a Saturday Night Massacre to fire Mueller, that’s when things get really, really dicy for Trump. He’s no longer useful at that point and Congress would have been given a reason on a platter to impeach him.

They are already seeing that Trump does not seem to be much of a help in the special elections. He wasn’t much help in Alabama or Pennsylvania. He received 3 million fewer votes than Hillary Clinton, but slipped in on the idiosyncrasy of the Electoral College. It’s ‘first passed the post’ in Congressional elections. He even pissed off truth believers with the omnibus spending bill and Stormy et al. are not helping to attract women. He is a liability in the general, although he might help in some primaries.

The GOP needs to avoid him if it wants to remain viable as a national party. Trump has no respect for anyone, so he will need a 25th Amendment intervention or impeachment to leave.

Mueller is dotting all of the i’s and crossing all of the t’s. The problem is that every witness seems to provide information on new criminal activity that isn’t directly related to the election, but has to be investigated because there are Russians involved. I don’t know if he will get involved with Cambridge Analytica, but that’s another fine mess involving many of the same people as the current probe.

I see multiple doctoral theses coming as well as novels and a movie or two. In my ending you have Stormy Daniels and Melania standing outside watching Trump Tower being removed from the building and Mueller Place going up. Meanwhile Trump gets to the airport in time to see the IRS towing away his airplane and he turns to see his limo being driven away by employees of Citi Bank. 👿
