[I don’t think they do that any more.]

Pretty much the only people who use the mail any more are governments and junk mailers.

Luckily my city is old fashioned and sends them via U.S. Mail, though they accept payment electronically, go figure.

The lady at the driver’s license bureau was rather astonished by my Louisiana birth certificate though. The State of Louisiana prints those things out on *big* sheets of paper, with fanfold pin feeds on both sides. She couldn’t get all of it into her scanner to scan it! But it had the embossed seal on it, so she had to take it, like it or not, LOL.

I brought the notice for my license renewal and my registration renewal, but they wanted at least one other non-state source so I gave them my latest Medicare summary. The governments are the only ones left who use the mail.

Jakob Johannes Imhof became Jacob John Emhof, and Ludwig Doemke became Lewis Dumka. This occurred despite the passenger manifests of the ships they arrived on. Once in the country you were at the mercy of local officials and their ability to spell your name. I totally understand someone in HR deciding not to type your real name and someone accepting the change as you knew no one was going to spell or pronounce your real name properly. Of course when you have to interact with government officials they are really going to want the ‘legal’ name.

If it wouldn’t involve a bogus lawsuit, I would buy one of your t-shirts in a second.

But when I retired the social security officer took one look at it andsaid, “Oh my, we got some work to do”, When I got my social security card, circa 1966, they put down my every day usage name, e.g. Pete Woods. But now the law requires legal birth name and in my case Pete Woods (not my real name) became Petronius Josephus Wilhelmus Van Den Woods. (also not my real name). Do you know what it’s like to sign real estate papers with a moniker like that?

About the Odious Idiot backing out of negotiations with rocket Man. Good move on Drumpfs part. Rocket man would have toasted his croutons. Wonder if I can get the medal printed on a T-shirt with an “Epic Fail” watermark?
