Ms Higgins ran as “La Gringa” as the district includes Little Havana – the Republican core of the Miami Cuban community. She is from Ohio, but speaks Spanish. The Cuban political machine took a hit that does not bode well for several Congressional districts. The human rights violations along the border don’t play well in South Florida and neither does the treatment of Puerto Rico.

In reply to Kryten42. I know more about DWS [Debbie Wasserman Schultz]. I have been exchanging e-mails with her since 2000 when she was in the Florida legislature. She used to be a decent human being and then she got elected to Congress, moved up the ranks of Congress, and lost her moral compass. She became the chair of the Democratic National Committee and played fast and lose with the rules to help Hillary Clinton. That she is taking corporate money is no surprise. Essentially Canova is running as an independent because he can't get around the gatekeepers in the Democratic Party. Most of what he says would be his policies seem reasonable and Bernie Sanders thinks he's OK. He is a law professor, and it would be nice to have someone in the House of Representatives who actually knows something about our laws :twisted:

Hmmm! Tim Canova @Tim_Canova who is apparently running for Congress in FL 23 commented on a tweet of mine. Do you know him? Is he someone to take seriously & honest (as far as any politician can be called honest)? My Tweet: "Further research into donations of For-profit Prisons shows the majority of recipients are GOP, but 40% are Dem's. Any Dem that receives this blood money, should return it & stop taking donations! #GeeksResist #TheResistance #TrumpConcentrationCamps" His reply: "@DWStweets has taken money from giant Corrections Corporation of America (CCA), now called @CoreCivic, while pushing for its proposed private for-profit immigration detention center in Southwest Ranches in our district. More of DWS hypocrisy on treatment of migrants & refugees."

Thanks Bryan. I'm kinda back online. Turned out I wasn't just feeling depressed... I had the start of a head cold too. Spent the weekend in bed! Feeling better & still angry. Which is good. Anyone sane should be. So I guess I pass! :D Curiously... My Twitter followers increased by almost 30 the 5 days I was offline! Are they trying to tell me something? :lol: I see Wonkette & Hullabaloo & several other blog's are also pretty peeved about the crap the GOP are pulling (and you also of course!). As they should be.

Take care. Everyone needs to to take a deep breath and return to the real world. After the G-7, Singapore, what’s happening along the US-Mexico border, and governments world-wide, if you aren’t being paid a lot of money to track this stuff, you need to step back and recharge.

The entire Nobel thing was cooked up by Repug Congresscritters because Obama got one for not being the Shrubbery or John McCain.The Nobel committee won't give him anything while he is attacking Europe on non-existent trade problems. It would be a bit beyond the pale to give a peace prize to someone for not launching a war that he started to talk about. Until and unless M$ hires some full-time programmers to work on their software, instead of contractors, their products are going to be crap. Fewer people with H-1B visas would probably help, and operating system design and support really are long-term projects.

If this happens, would absolutely confirm it! In the other Twilight Zone Universe of Micro$tuffed... Microsoft pushing Win10 version 1803 to PCs specifically set to avoid it Seems that M$ are trying to ruin their reputation (what's left of it) with Business users or really want to get out of the OS biz. *shrug*

It has been determined that Putin actually suggested that Trump stop the joint exercises as a show of good faith for North Korea. Apparently Trump and Putin have frequent telephone conversations.

Nicolle Wallace was George W. Bush’s director of communications – she is a lapsed Republican, like many of the most vehement voices against Trump on MSNBC.

Canada, the US, and Mexico are hosting the 2026 World Cup. There are no guarantees that teams or fans will be allowed into the US unless Congress gets off the stick and fixes the immigration laws and the people who enforce them.

After looking at pictures from the G-7 I figured out why Trump attacked Trudeau – Trudeau is taller, stronger, better looking, better hair, and his wife is willing to stand beside him at public events. Trump is afraid of Merkel, May and every other strong woman.

Trumpism is spreading and poisoning politics.
