Not to get petty, Ellroon, but the diseases were introduced to the Americas by Europeans, and Americans should have the immunizations to protect them from these diseases if they are present. Of course smallpox was judged to be extinct in 1980 by the World Health Organization, which also provides the cure for Hansen’s disease [leprosy] to all who require it. The caravans are collections of the lowest levels of the Central American people who are indigenous Americans. The agricultural industry need these people to work in the fields.

The militias are bad news, Kryten, and local law enforcement along the border don’t want them around, but national politicians are supplying cover for them. They are carrying loaded guns and getting drunk. That is not a plan for a long and peaceful life.
