I understand. We were a bit more structured in my outfit, but a number of those with whom we cooperated had some unusual requirements, like stock car racing. They would be looking for language skills for jobs. We figured out the reason for the stock car requirement and all decided the job was a bit too insane. Getting intercepted by the Libyan Air Force was much less of a risk.

A lots of the things we did as kids that adults thought were stupid or dangerous turned out to be useful in later life. If we had known they probably wouldn’t have been any fun 😉

He tended to use very proper English. He was a Major in the British Royal Military and a Captain in the AU Military (who was… hmmm… semi-retired? Actually I read it as “isn’t necessary” because you are logical and “is necessary” isn’t. I also have a habit of not including the “-n’t” quite often, so I see it even if it isn’t actually there.
