The cemetery is staffed by volunteers, except for the military funerals which are performed by special honor units of each service. It is currently closed to everyone except close relatives of those buried there. As I mentioned a major telecom provider was doing a system update and their segment of the Internet backbone went down.

The site is working now. But the link to the “Prominent Military Figures” part of the site isn’t. I checked there, and Audie seems to have been removed from that list, yet they still say he’s one of the highest awarded Veterans in the USA & he made Major before his 21st Birthday! It’s very strange… But it’s unsurprising in the USA.

In addition the US Internet and cell phone system has been crap for several days because one of the major telecom companies introduced some changes to their system that failed. Also the Cemetery is on lock down due to the virus.

I have been trying to get onto the Arlington Cemetery website to check up on a WW2 veteran. But it seems to be down the past few days (that I have been trying, so it could be longer, or maybe they just don’t want anyone outside the USA to look at it).

I just get: “The connection has timed out.
The server at arlingtoncemetery . mil is taking too long to respond.”

That link worked when I checked it about two years ago. I also checked just the main URL. Can you check and see if it’s just me?
