Neighbors figure it out when patients leave the building in body bags. “Reputational fears” ? Public servants who don’t provide the public with reliable information during a pandemic tend to have shortened careers.

I just don’t get it. How do they think they aren’t going to jail as opposed to getting a ticket for conduct like that. The world now carries a video camera in their pocket and will sell it to the media or post on social media and the cousin you never liked is going to ID you to the police for 15 seconds of fame. In the US “Karen: would have been riddled with bullets, tazed, and pepper sprayed for that crap.

That guy in the fast food place must have known that all of those places have cameras watching the cash registers plus everyone punching buttons on smartphones.

I think it's safe to assume she's definitely screwed! Thanks to these clueless selfish morons, we are heading to Stage 4 lockdown now. And that will effect not just Victoria, but all of AU & exports as food processing & distribution will be cut to a minimum. Of course, that also applies to our Federal politicians. As in this example: "Minister refuses to name Victoria aged care homes battling Covid-19 due to 'reputational' fears". Morons NEVER learn!]]> Thanks Bryan. That helps. 👍😊

In New York the yelling is called Harassment and the hitting is called Assault. With the video there isn’t a state or district attorney who wouldn’t file charges. The victim has a tie so he is a manager, but an important point in the trial is going to be the size difference and the glasses. Getting hit like that will drive the glasses into your nose and give you a black eye [voice of experience] and a hell of a headache. Figure a few hundred for the glasses and several hundred for medical costs if there is no eye damage. Permanent damage and you are looking 20 years for stupidity.

LARP is how we pronounced the abbreviation for the “long range reconnaissance patrol” , the poor pounders who got sent out into the boonies for weeks. Based on the context and my knowledge of the local JROTC I think you are right about “role play”.

The M240 is the standard machine gun for US troops, so he/she was required to show how to clear a jam, which certainly sounds like role playing. They definitely don’t give JROTC M240s to play with.

The storm isn’t headed this way which is why they brought the Dragon space capsule in the Gulf off the coast south of Pensacola about 40 miles [65 km] southwest of me. I would have liked to see it, but too many people around here are suicidal and won’t wear masks or maintain a 2 meter separation.

LARP rang a bell but I couldn’t quite place it… Is that “Live Action Role Play”? and what does that mean in this case in the USA? We did a lot of that during training, especially at the beginning of the Special Courses.

And one tweeter said that was Felony Assault and the DA should press charges based upon the video evidence.

I know you will do all you can to stay safe and sane, and given the distance and the problems here now, there is nothing I can do other than offer good wishes. It pisses me off actually. But reality has had a habit of doing taht for some time now. *shrug*

Speaking of… I didn’t want to hijack another thread! But I saw this and wanted to get your opinion as an ex LEO and US citizen. You know the USA far better than I do.

This was posted on Twitter, a video was taken of some angry guy that I believe committed an unprovoked assault on a Burger King employee (may have been the manager or assistant Manager). He has been fired from his job at Harbor Freight and apparently was an LARP in JROTC at some point.

This is crazy and there is another system waiting to spin up just East of the Leeward Islands. Combined with the pandemic the standard shelters are too dangerous, and the season goes to the end of November, so there will be a trifecta for the election. We are so fucked up.

There is an article about it in WaPo:

Hot ocean waters along East Coast are drawing in ‘weird’ fish and supercharging hurricane season

I didn’t know if you’d heard about this, but thought you’d be interested. It’s going to be a wild season I think.
