Enough Is Enough

It is past the time when the Shrubbery needs to just STFU before he starts a war with Russia.

Putin knows that some leaders are idiots, he served under Brezhnev and Yeltsin, but there is a limit to his patience and he is at the end of his term. Putin doesn’t act like a “tough guy”; he is one. He was a KGB officer who worked in East Germany and other places. It doesn’t bother him to use force.

The BBC reports that Bush seeks to calm Russian fears:

US President George W Bush has said Russia has nothing to fear from a missile defence system to be built by the US, partly in eastern Europe.

Mr Bush said the Cold War was over and Russia was not an enemy of the US.

But, they also report that Bush criticises Russia on reform:

In his speech in Prague, which focused on global democracy, Mr Bush said the US friendship with Russia and China was “complex”.

He said: “In Russia, reforms that once promised to empower citizens have been derailed, with troubling implications for democratic development.”

The Shrubbery doesn’t seem to understand that just because he doesn’t consider Russia and enemy, doesn’t mean that Russia doesn’t consider the US an enemy. Russia sees the US wandering around the world invading countries and lying about the actions of those countries. Then it sees the US installing weapons systems in neighboring countries.

The Shrubbery needs to stay in the White House and keep his mouth shut until he leaves. No one wants to see him, and no one wants to talk to him.

i saw those 2 headlines, one earlier in the day, and the other one later in the day, and wondered if i was hallucinating. i would feel a lot safer if bush would just go haul dead branches around out in the middle of texas somewhere, until about february 2009.

There was something in Le Monde, either yesterday or today (I forget which) that suggested part of the problem is that Russia views compromise as weakness. Putin and Bush both share one trait in common–each wants to get his own way, and gets very cranky when that doesn’t happen.

He just won’t keep still, and keep making it worse, Hipparchia. He doesn’t understand what he’s doing.

The big difference, Michael, is that Putin does know what he’s doing, and he’s doing it deliberately. They are both testosterone poisoned, not a good thing when nuclear weapons are involved.

Putin at least knows the meaning of the word “compromise”. Dear Leader does not.

Roger that, ‘Tux. At some point I’ll be linking to your testing posts. We have “A+” schools locally, but the graduates can’t make change or balance a check book.
