If I’m not mistaken, that’s in the area that has always considered itself too far south for hurricane development. There was another several years back – Ivan, maybe?

Ivan went by as a major hurricane in 2004, and it was unusual for hurricanes to track that far south, but it is happening more often now because of the altered weather patterns.
