Proving once again that we need a kindergarten teacher instead of a UN Secretary General: Iran: CIA, U.S. Army ‘terrorist organizations’

TEHRAN, Iran – Iran’s parliament on Saturday approved a nonbinding resolution to label the CIA and the U.S. Army “terrorist organizations.” The move is seen as a diplomatic tit-for-tat after the U.S. Senate voted in favor of a resolution urging the State Department to designate Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps a terrorist organization.

“The aggressor U.S. Army and the Central Intelligence Agency are terrorists and also nurture terror,” said a statement by the 215 lawmakers who signed the resolution at an open session of the Iranian parliament. The session was broadcast live on state-run radio.

The hard-line dominated parliament said the two were terrorists, because they were involved in dropping nuclear bombs in Japan in World War II, used depleted uranium munitions in the Balkans, Afghanistan and Iraq, supported the killings of Palestinians by Israel, bombed and killed Iraqi civilians and tortured terror suspects in prisons.

Unfortunately everything is in English or we could discover the Farsi version of “neener, neener, neener.” Just because the US Senate needs a time out is no reason for other parliaments to stoop to their level.

Next up, Geogie complains to the Security Council that Mahmoud is staring at him.

it has all kind of devolved into romper room hasn’t it?

if the senate had any sense, they’d have known that iran declaring u.s. government agencies as terrorist organiztions was the logical next step.

It’s absurd and dangerous. We have pre-schoolers with armies.

Control yourself, Whig. You need to chill out.

I think I know just the thing for that.

If you’re serious, and you really don’t appreciate my being silly when we have kindergarten government, well, I don’t know what to say…

I even remember the Doobie Brothers reference in Romancing the Stone. I voted for the first time in 1964, so I knew what you were talking about, which is why went to “chill” which has surely been replaced by now as it has come and gone twice in my experience.

You’re probably over my head at this point. I wasn’t born yet.

“Chill out” was used way back and then it fell out of use. Then it made a come back. “Doobie” is an ancient term of the same age as “Maryjane” which were common when “chill out” first came into the language. They were in common usage in the mid-60s.

I assumed you were making a reference to the very old days but you probably don’t remember Cheech and Chong as a comedy team.

Here’s Mr. Do Bee, from Romper Room. This was on when I was about the right age for it, i.e., when I was a child I watched it a few times but it wasn’t on any station where I lived, only when I went to visit my grandparents in Baltimore.

There was a local version in many of the larger markets. We didn’t have television for most of my childhood. There were no stations in many of the places we lived, so I never got into it except as reruns at some the remote locations where I was stationed after I joined the Air Force.
