Fire Update
According to Cal Fire, there are currently three major fires burning in Southern California, the Tea Fire at Montecito [Santa Barbara County], the Sayre Fire at Sylmar [Los Angeles County], and the Triangle Complex that started as the Freeway Fire near Corona [Riverside County] but has spread into Orange County. They started on three nights in a row moving from North to South in unsettled wildness areas upwind from residential communities.
The BBC has a brief overview, and the Los Angeles Times has a longer summary report.

For all those in Orange County who b***h and moan about “socialism”, they need to be reminded they are benefiting from a “socialist” organization…the fire departments. Believe me, they have those “socialists” flying in from all over the Country to help with these fires.
Watching those helicopters buzz the house and take a “dip” in the small resevoir just over the hill was completely awe inspiring…and then of course, there’s that DC-10 monster….just awesome.
Bless those socialists.
At this point I wouldn’t be surprised if one or more of these is found to be of “suspicious origin”. I understand they suspect something about the Tea Fire.
That Orange County fire is a real scary beast. The winds have been carrying embers miles and setting new fires in distant locations. That’s how it is jumping the freeways and other natural firebreaks.
