Progress On The Fires
CNN has its fire summary up for today. It is based on their own reporting.
Both MSNBC and CBS are using an AP story with some original reporting thrown in, usually at the end.
As long as the winds stay down, they can make some progress, but if the winds come back the fires will flare up again. So far there have been no fatalities directly related to the fires, but that could change after the affected areas are inspected more thoroughly.
Just like earthquakes, Californians expect fires when the Santa Anas begin blowing. But just like earthquakes, they expect them to happen to other people. It is the same attitude that people on the Gulf Coast have about hurricanes.

I just hope this all ends soon.
What a mess.
I was only close to one large fire when I lived in San Diego, but members of my family had to evacuate during the 2007 fires down there and I had former clients who lost their homes according to mutual acquaintances still in the area.
With hurricanes you can do some scheduling and make some educated guesses, but a wind-driven fire can jump lines.
Hopefully, the worst is over.
Santa Ana winds projected for this weekend.
Damn, I didn’t see it on the weather. I hope no one is planning a bonfire in the area.
I can’t believe anyone would be that stupid who has lived in the area any length of time.
