“So who needs car’s anyway?”

Sigh… Old folks do.

I spent my young life on a bicycle, to and from work every day for about 25 years, rain or shine. I miss the job, of course, but most of all I miss the trip along a bayou between my home and the Texas Medical Center, where two of my employers and later several of my contract jobs were. Now my physical limitations interfere with even getting on a bike, let alone riding it.

To those on the Tour, I can only paraphrase an old saying: “May the road never come up to meet you…”

Yes, Kryten, he has been sitting there at two or three for most of the Tour and is probably waiting for Andy Schleck to make his move, before he tries for the Yellow.

As for who needs a car, most of the people out on the cattle and sheep stations … unless they have an aircraft.

Some of the new trikes that people use around here would be useful, Steve, if they didn’t cost more than some cars. As for the old saying, a couple of dozen have become all too familiar with French roadways.

LOL Yeah, I know Bryan. it’s item #1 on the news every night since the race started! 😆

Apparently, it’s the best thing going for us right now. *shrug*

Yeah, I loved my bike(s) when I was younger. Biking and swimming were great for Weightlifting. I lived near the beach in my late teens, and swam every morning for a solid half-hour, then rode my bike to the Gym (about 34km’s) and worked out for an hour then went to school. I was only bullied once at that time… My Grandfather told me that if someone tried to bully me, make sure to end it swiftly and leave a lasting impression. I took his advice, it worked (I got in trouble of course, but it was well worth it. Everyone knows there is no *justice* in the school system either!). ‘;) 😀 I doubt that even at my fittest, I was ever insane enough to bike for 3,000k’s! (Though, I did once do just over 220k’s). 😀

I’d like to get a bike again, but can’t (for now anyway). I wish I lived near the beach again, I can’t stand pools! We had a pool at the Gym that we had to use for 15 min’s after a workout, was good to relax the muscles, but I prefer the ocean. Maybe one day I’ll move back to the beach, somewhere. 😉

You could just wait, Kryten, because the way things are going the beach may move to you.

I use my bike when I can, which doesn’t include when the heat index is above 105°, but it is more convenient and generally includes less walking as the bike racks are hell of a lot more convenient than parking lots for most stores.
