They Are Going To Cause It

What’s it, you ask? The Greater Recession …

The Guardian has a piece about the British government’s reaction to the kabuki in DC: Cable attacks ‘right wing nutters’

Business Secretary Vince Cable has launched an extraordinary attack on “right wing nutters” in the US who are threatening to cripple the world economy.

Mr Cable said the row over whether to raise the American government’s debt ceiling was a more serious crisis than the eurozone’s problems.

But he added: “The irony of the situation at the moment, with markets opening tomorrow morning, is that the biggest threat to the world financial system comes from a few right-wing nutters in the American congress rather than the eurozone.”

Mr. Cable is the equivalent of the US Secretary of Commerce.

Raising Medicare to 67: Not an Acceptable Option is Jeralyn at TalkLeft finally understanding that Obama is servant of oligarchs, like all Republicans. Of course, he doesn’t care what Democratic voters or Congresscritters think. He assumes they will vote the way he wants, which is why all of the real discussions have been between him and Boehner.

I would hope that people realize that Zero set this up so he could cut Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid, which is what the oligarchs want. It is all part of his ineffable plan for “shared sacrifice” that seems to have the lower 90% making sacrifices inversely proportional to their income which will then be shared among the upper 10% in direct proportion to their wealth.

“We shall grapple with the ineffable, and see if we may not eff it after all.” — Douglas Adams in Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency

Alas I do not see Nancy Pelosi or Harry Reid as Dirk Gently.

Right, “a silly old prat’ who accurately predicted the reaction of the world’s markets this morning because there was no agreement, as “a few right-wing nutters” have refused to raise the debt ceiling.

You might want to wait until he gets something wrong before you criticize his abilities.

i [heart] dirk gently. i’m really ticked at douglas adams for only writing two of those books, even if he is dead.

Aye… I agree with that hipparchia! 😉 😀

Good choice Bryan. 🙂 Douglas Adams and Sir Terry Pratchett could see the World as it really was and is, a rare gift. An even rarer gift was that they had the skill to make the truth less painful and entertaining, with a great deal of satire and irony. Of course, it was way over the heads of many, mostly the current crop of right-wingers. Their primary idea of humor is watching someone who knows they are morons die in a pool of blood. *shrug* 😉

The books have a very odd effect on people who have no familiarity with Adams … it takes a while for them to understand that you just have to read to the end, or they don’t make sense.

He had such a wonderful sense of the absurd that you really could relax while reading them. We need a replacement now that we are losing Sir Terry, as they were in a class of their own in modern times.

There is a certain level of black humor in watching all of the ‘nutters’ trying to deny that they were in any way responsible for what happened in Norway, after they are cited as influences by the terrorist.

Words have power, so you have to be careful how you use them, and accept responsibility when they set off the impressionable.

*sigh* The problem with the World, Bryan, is that while many of *us* do take responsibility for our actions, and in fact even bother to actually consider consequences, most of *them* have never, and never will, do either. It’s extremely ironic that the ones doing the most damage are totally inconsiderate and for the most part are sociopaths, whilst the rest of us won’t kill them like the vermin they are, because it’s *wrong*. Sadly, conscience is only on one side, they know how to use all the *words*, but they are only empty words devoid of any truth out of their mouths. We all know it. and do little about it. It’s a very unbalanced World where only one *side* cares about such things as moral’s, ethics, law’s and even right & wrong. And it will never improve whilst that is the case.

That’s black humor. And it’s becoming less funny to me every day.

Oh… and another piece of insane irony (and black humor) is that both the faux Christian nutters and the faux Muslim nutters, and the faux *pick any religion or group you like* nutters, are in fact all the same! They may use different words… but it’s only the words that are different, and even then, most of those are the same also. 😈 Now *THAT’S* funny! 😆 😆

They generally use different ‘books’ to justify their flavor of insanity, but the words are interchangeable. Over at Corrente several people take paragraphs and insert blanks for specific words, and it is really amazing at the degree of sameness among these divergent groups. It’s like ‘Mad-Libs for Sociopaths’.

There must be a site out there on the ‘Net where they get their screeds, and use search and replace to enter their choice of nouns.

We both know all kinds of ways of creating really nasty things from what you can find in the average kitchen and garden shed, but we don’t tell people how do it. There are undoubtedly multiple sites on the ‘Net that will tell people how to make bombs from common substances, but I’m not going to assist in that. I do my best not to give people clues about that sort of thing, and then you have newspapers reporting on the cases like Oklahoma City and Oslo printing bloody recipes in their stories.

Bullets can kill people, words can kill civilizations.

Yes. I tell you in all truth. If I could figure out a way to kill them all without harming an innocent, it would be done. 🙂 I know where (and how) to get my hands on some of the deadliest weapons unknown to most humans. But they are indiscriminate. And hunting them one by one is an exercise in futility, and would just make things worse in any case. *shrug*. If I could figure out a way, I would round them all up and drop them in the most desolate spot of the Simpson desert, with enough food and water for a quarter of them for a few days. 🙂 Let them deal with each other then! 😈

However, in the *real* World… I can only try to point out as much of their insanity and stupidity as possible, in the hopes that a few of the unwashed masses may get a clue. *shrug* Maybe, if enough do, the nutters will be dealt with finally.

Soon enough, it won’t matter to myself any longer. The ONLY thing we all have in common is that one day we all die. Me, I could do with the rest! 😆 If there is such things as Heaven and Hell, And I end up in Hell (or if not, I’d request a few million years there) I’ll be the one (and possibly only one) laughing loudly at them all, no matter what is being done to my spirit! Hell… I’ll even make some creative suggestions! 😉 😈 Maybe even Sir Terry & Mr Adams will join me for awhile, and have the last laugh with me! They deserve it. 😀

THAT… would be the penultimate Justice!

Hey, there are uninhabited islands around. Throw in a Boy Scout manual to prove good intentions, and let them live Galt.

The problem I have with the concept of Heaven and Hell is that I would spend an eternity explaining to fundies that it was Hell, not Heaven, because there is no other explanation for our being there together.

The entire concept of ‘predestination’ found among Calvinists really turned me off. If the ending was already determined, what was the point of everything between birth and death? If you get a free pass for a statement of belief just before you die, the same problem results. I really don’t see the mechanism for enforcing ‘moral behavior’ in either of those concepts.

Believe whatever you want, just don’t ask me to buy into it.
